Not too sure if you’ve noticed, but arts education has been quietly and tragically falling out of the public school curriculum in the United States. Either because they deem it unimportant, simply don’t have the funds, or both, public schools across the country have been removing classes and activities such as band, orchestra, choir, drama, art, writing, etc. from their educational programming. Having been a long-time believer of the necessity for public school arts education (as well as a product of it), Eli finally said, "Enough is enough!"
In September of 2008, Eli created ARTISTS TAKE ACTION!, a Not-For-Profit arts promotional group, aimed at supporting good art and assisting public school arts education. Their mission: To support, encourage, and enrich positive thinking in the arts and its future. With the assistance and encouragement of multiple friends, loved ones, and fellow artists, their first of many events held on November 10th at Sullivan Hall in NYC; a full evening of local musicians putting on a concert to raise money for The Striking Viking Story Pirates, was a phenominal success. Artists Take Action! hopes to continue its mission for many years to come.
