When Eli was 4, he thought that his grandmother’s old baby-grand piano that sat in his living room was a car…and he really REALLY wanted to drive. So when mom and dad asked him if he wanted to learn how to actually play the piano, he was the happiest little 4-year-old you’ve ever seen. Having excelled in all musical studies as a kid, by the time Eli was 21 he played 9, that’s right, 9 musical instruments. They include: Guitar, Piano, Bass (Up-right and Electric), Drums, Trumpet, French horn, Banjo, Mandolin, and Harmonica. Don’t you dare think he’s satisfied; he’s got his eye on the cello!
From college, Eli began playing in various pit orchestras as well as live stage performances. He has had the pleasure to play with noted musical directors such as Cynthia Westphal, Jared Stein, David Andrews Rogers, and Christopher McGovern.
In addition to being a life-long musician, Eli is also an accomplished music director and orchestrator. His more notable project has been as original orchestrator and first music director of Greeneyes, which received prominent acclaim at the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival (greeneyesthemusical.com). He also did multiple arrangements for various student shows at The University of Michigan, as well as recently having worked for Beautiful City, a benefit by the National Tour of The Lion King to support victims of Hurricane Gustav. |
